In my early days, I truly wanted to become a veterinarian or a nurse. Like many young girls, I loved horses, and was very good at riding them. In fact, my daughter showed the same interest, and I seriously toyed with the idea of purchasing a trained barrel racing horse for her!
After having completed my education, I became a medical assistant. However, a lack of appropriate jobs convinced me that I needed to look in a different direction. I moved into the insurance industry which always seemed to have plenty of job opportunities and possibilities for upward growth.
The aspect of being a medical assistant that attracted me to the profession was being able to help people in need. Obviously, working in insurance gives me the same opportunity – especially in the commercial lines arena. Reviewing the needs of a business to properly protect itself with insurance is very educational, interesting and mentally stimulating. I believe that is why I have remained in the industry for 45 years. I also enjoy teaching and training new staff members. My position with Conrey Insurance Brokers allows me to do both.
